Headaches suck… Chiropractic care may help

But how much do they really cost us?

Are you one of the 46% of Australians suffering from headaches that are robbing you of your productive time at work and study, social activities, and precious time with family and friends? If so, you’re not alone.

Spinal Health Week 2023, taking place from 22-28 May, is the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA) national campaign dedicated to improving the spinal health of all Australians. The focus this year is on headaches and the impact they have on Australians, while providing solutions to elevate headache pain so sufferers can take back control of their health and wellbeing.

Migraine and tension-type headaches are the most common headache disorders, both with disabling potential and having the greatest impact on public health. With more than 7 million Australians suffering from debilitating tension headaches and more than 4.9 million suffering from chronic migraines, the economic impact on Australia exceeds $35.7 billion annually.

However, the real cost to headache sufferers is immeasurable.

The connection between spinal health conditions (especially of the neck) and headaches is well recognized in research. It’s vital that headache sufferers have their spine examined and, if appropriate, seek early, effective drug-free chiropractic care. Studies have shown that chiropractic care provides reliable, low risk, effective treatment for the three most common types of headaches – tension and cervicogenic (neck-related) headaches and migraines with notable improvement in cervicogenic headaches following chiropractic treatment.

But did you know that a correctly contoured
pillow can also improve headaches?

Poor sleep posture can cause tension in the neck and contribute to headaches. A pillow that is too high or too low can cause the neck to be in an unnatural position, leading to strain on the neck muscles and ultimately causing headaches.

At our office, our chiropractic healthcare professionals are trained to identify the causes of headaches, including sleep posture, and provide specialized low-risk, effective drug-free treatment for people of all ages.
